Do you have an etsy shop? Do you live in Kitchener or Waterloo? Are you looking to meet other talented artists… join forces… learn from eachother … grow stronger… better… and radically change the world of handmade? ……. okay maybe its nothing radical …since there is a lot of handmade action already taking place, but everything is better in a team right?!
SO JOIN THE NEW KW ETSY TEAM and be a part of something great for KW!
The team is looking for artist of all kinds. Your goods must be handmade (by yourself) and you must live in kitchener/Waterloo or surrounding Area. We encourage our memebers to join Etsy, but it’s not a necessity.
Each month Melanie will pick 3 artists from different categories and post their bio on the front page of the website.
Allow shoppers to search the whole team by adding KWteam to your etsy listings (under catagory)
Flickr KWteam group with postings of local shows, stores
Soon there will be a forum for project talk, tips and methods.
PLUS imadeit will be lending a hand in creating local craft shows for the artists. it going to be great!!
have to go back for a little more training (icky school) but hopefully my brain will suck up knowledge quick-time, and i can grace you with the rest of the plan.
Waterloo has made me an incredible offer, and im giddy with glee. but it means nothing if i dont have your support, and participation.
the deal: Run an art market outdoors every Saturday from May thru September called ART LOOP
it will not only be an imadeit event but a Waterloo way of life. it will be marketed larger than we ever have; street banners, tourism guide… etc. along with the artisans we will include vintage/antique vendors. as usual we will include musicans, either every weekend or once a month. but i dont think we will have trouble finding music.
the place: the space beside the Clay and Glass Gallery is screaming for funky unique vendors amongst the trees + flowers. if you are not familiar with the area… right across the street (towards red trees on left) is the Waterloo Library; to the right (behind the clock tower) is the new Waterloo Town Square; behind me is the old train that runs from Waterloo to St. Jacobs; on the far right (out of the shot) is the Seagrams Museum.
But without the talents of all you fabulously creative vendors, this will not work. i would like to know if running the art market every weekend is too much. please let me know by answering the poll below….
its been a while. i think i burned my brain out getting ready for the Bloomin Earth Show. Which was good for most in a strange new way. We all had a wonderful time getting to know eachother and those wandering the event.
Somehow i only managed to get a few shots of the activities surrounding my own booth…
feel free to email me any others you may have taken yourself. i would love to share them as it was a beautiful event.
PLUS …
you may see a few colourful new icons on the sidebar. its my attempt to further clean things up in here — and my distraction from cleaning my actual house. i will be adding more pages, most to help those artists who are just starting to participate in shows, as well as a list of calls for vendors and upcoming shows.
…to make you fall obssesively in love with the SHOP blog.
You will see new tabs across the top, and increasingly a cleaner sidebar. Please be sure to click on all the tabs as they are chock full of super helpful and fun info.
most important being the SHOP tab, where i have added photos and addresses of all the best handmade havens i can find, such as…
after rearranging my house numerous times to get ready for the holidays i realized the problem was not that my furniture didnt fit…. it was my collected “some day i will make something from these” items that didnt fit. fine. i accept that they will never become anything by my hand… but someone elses perhaps??
…and you can post items you need to remove from your ‘collection’ as well. kinda. email me a photo, and i will post it all pretty like. You will be contacted by 100s of interested folk, and figure out pickup from there. (okay hopefully not hundreds. that would make you life really busy for a free exchange)
jeeze… there are so many cool things on this site… if i werent the writer i would jumping up + down. wait … i am doing that. ha!
The crew who created this wonderful blogging site (wordpress.com) have made some changes. Lots of pretty new things over on this side of the site, but my favorite is the statistics i can see about the you, the readers….
last year around this time … i had an average of 68 readers per day. Today … i have an average of 170 readers PER DAY!!!
who knew? i sit here thinking there are 4 or 5 people checking in, me writing silly gibberish most of the time –just to get a post in and keep those few entertained… but WOW was i wrong.
THANKS to everyone checking in from time to time. It such a wonderful feeling… AND helps me totally forget the level of stress and anxiety i am feeling with the Holiday Sparkle Show tomorrow!
I have compiled a list of Christmasy events in the KW area. This includes both craft shows, theatre productions, community fun days, art workshops… and really anything i would do.
You can reach this beautiful list by clicking the christmas tree in the right sidebar
<— that looks like this
Right now the list is just for November, and i vow to add more soon… but wow, November is a long list!
Aaaannd.. (im on a organized roll today) I have also added a section to the site offering HELP to ARTISTS for things like “what do i need to start a business?”… “what taxes do i charge at a show?”… “what stores will sell my handmade goods?” … and other resources just for you. Thing is… i need your questions to answer.
Click on Help for New Artists across the top, and leave a comment with your burning question. What is it that you really just cant find any information on…?
